HOUTEX27 was completed successfully with 170 participants from many states + UK and Canada. We overcame a minor rain shower on Saturday and got all matches played without much delay. The banquet was successful, and the raffle and silent auction raised over $2,000, which goes to our charity, Legacy Community Health Services.
Several HTC members brought home trophies. Winners in the Open Doubles division were our "Chrissies" (Hunckler and Stanich), who won without the loss of a set. Craig Rhodes won the B Singles Consolation division. Lee Joiner was Men's 40+ Singles finalist. Claudia McFadden was the top woman for the Mixed Doubles division which was held in a round robin/partner mix format. Congratulations to all of you!!
We also thank all of the volunteers from HTC who made HOUTEX27 once again one of the most successful tournaments on the GLTA tour. HTC members helped out in numerous ways, whether it was donations, stuffing packets, hosting the Welcome party, managing the tournament desk, refreshments, squeegeeing wet courts, equipment, hauling stuff in their cars, etc. Thanks to all listed below:
