Saturday clinics run from 9:00-10:30 AM at Memorial Park. Sessions are facilitated by members and are aimed at helping you work on individual strokes and strategies for improving your overall game. Best of all, sessions are completely FREE to members!

Welcome to the Houston Tennis Club
HTC has a roster of players ranging from novice to advanced tournament players. It is also home to the annual HOUTEX tennis tournament and charity fundraiser. The HOUTEX tournament is one of the oldest and most prestigious gay tennis tournaments in the United States and is sanctioned by the Gay and Lesbian Tennis Association (GLTA), a member organization of the United States Tennis Association (USTA). In 2003, HOUTEX rated #10 in the GLTA Top 10 Tournaments based on entries and also #10 in the Top 10 Growing Tournaments. This was quite an accomplishment considering the West/East Coast cities along with the European cities that made the lists last year!

Current annual membership dues are $30, along with court fees ranging from $3 to $5 when members play at official HTC sessions. In addition, throughout the year, the club hosts a variety of events which may require nominal fees by members.
HTC reserves courts three days a week for sessions at the Memorial Park Tennis Center. The regularly scheduled sessions are at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and two sessions on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. There are also Saturday morning clinics at 9:00 a.m.
We use a rating system from Open/A to D levels. (A, as in “Able to leap the center net in a single bound” to D, as in “Don’t fret about the rules, just keep the ball in play!”). The club makes every effort to match people up with players of similar skill levels. The club promotes the sport of tennis with activities such as: Spring & Fall Team Tennis, Club Singles & Doubles Championships and Saturday morning clinics. Annually, the club forms a team to compete in Texas Cup which is a tri-club championship event between HTC, Austin Tennis Club and the Oak Lawn Tennis Association (Dallas). The hosting of Texas Cup is rotated from city to city each year. It is a highly competitive and fun weekend year after year as the bragging rights to who has the best club in the state is at stake! The Houston Tennis Club encourages members to form teams for competitive play in the Houston Tennis Association (HTA) and United States Tennis Association (USTA) leagues.
While tennis is our focus, HTC enjoys providing it’s members with ample social activities. One of our most popular events is “Promiscuous Doubles” where players are matched up randomly for doubles and trade partners every 20 minutes, thus giving individuals an opportunity to play with and meet other members of all levels in a fun social setting.
